Equitable Systems of Care
The Kennedy-Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity assesses and investigates local, regional and national responses to behavioral health concerns to identify and promote sustainable solutions advancing equitable access to systems of care.
Mental Health Parity
Following the legacy of Patrick J. Kennedy's authorship of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, the Center works to aggregate and elevate inequities in parity across the United States through our programs.
Cultural Humility and Sensitivity
Our programs establish best practices, recommendations and innovation towards the fostering of cultural humility and sensitivity for groups that are historically neglected and marginalized by health and behavioral healthcare systems.
Research
The Center’s research portfolio reflects our commitment to implementing science that advances behavioral health equity; improves efficiency within local, state, and national health care systems; and supports the agency of underserved communities to achieve optimal health and wellness.
Policy
The Kennedy-Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity seeks to inform evidence-based policy through translation of scientific evidence for policymakers and other decision-makers. The Center develops policy briefs, whitepapers, and reports that break down complex issues and highlight best practices for the advancement of mental health equity. The Center also participates in the development of legislation and regulations through public comments and collaboration with federal and state policymakers.
Convening Leadership
KSCMHE prioritizes efforts to convene diverse thought leaders to address the myriad of ways behavioral health equity interfaces with our national environment. The Center prioritizes the inclusion of experts, officials, leaders, front line providers, as well as those with lived experience and places with an emphasis on uplifting experiences that are historically less visible in our systems landscape.
